At Violet Horizon Training Academy, we provide accredited training for operators of earthmoving and heavy construction machinery.
Our programme equips learners with the knowledge and practical skills to operate large equipment safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with South African safety regulations.

Training aligns with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, 1993 (Act No. 85 of 1993) and the Driven Machinery Regulations, 2015 (Regulation 18), ensuring each learner meets the national standards for competency.

🧠 Course Overview
This course combines theory and hands-on practical training, covering a wide range of heavy machinery such as TLBs (Tractor Loader Backhoes), Excavators, Bulldozers, Front-End Loaders, and Graders.

1. Theory Training
Learners gain foundational knowledge of:

Machine components, functions, and operating principles
Pre-start inspections and preventative maintenance
Safe worksite communication and signaling
Basic excavation, grading, and loading techniques
Environmental awareness and site safety procedures
Operator responsibilities under the OHS Act and DMR 2015
2. Practical Training
Under the guidance of a qualified and accredited assessor, learners receive hands-on training on various earthmoving machines.
Practical modules include:

Starting, maneuvering, and operating on different terrains
Safe excavation, loading, and grading
Hazard identification and control measures
Emergency procedures and stability management
3. Competency Assessment
Each learner undergoes a written and practical evaluation in line with the relevant SAQA Unit Standards (e.g., 262745 – Operate a TLB, 262744 – Operate an Excavator, etc.).

4. Certification
Once deemed competent, learners receive an accredited competency certificate and operator license, valid for two (2) years and recognized nationwide by the relevant SETA (CETA or TETA).
Refresher training is required before renewal.
