Our course is structured according to the Occupational Health and Safety Act, 1993 (Act No. 85 of 1993) and the Driven Machinery Regulations, 2015 (Regulation 18), ensuring full compliance with South African safety legislation.

🧠 Course Overview
Crane training combines theoretical learning and practical experience to prepare learners for safe, competent, and compliant operation of lifting machinery.

1. Theory Training
Learners study the key principles of crane operation, covering:

Types of cranes: overhead, mobile, and tower
Crane components, load charts, and stability
Rigging, slinging, and signaling practices
Safe lifting procedures and accident prevention
Daily inspection, maintenance, and recordkeeping
Operator duties and legal responsibilities under OHS law
2. Practical Training
Under the supervision of a qualified and accredited assessor, learners gain hands-on experience operating cranes in simulated and real working conditions.
Training focuses on:

Safe lifting and lowering of loads
Load control and balance
Hand signals and radio communication
Working in confined or elevated areas
Responding to emergencies and avoiding common hazards
3. Competency Assessment
Upon completion, learners are assessed both practically and theoretically according to the relevant SAQA Unit Standard, depending on the crane type (e.g., Unit Standard 116255 for overhead cranes, or 116254 for mobile cranes).

4. Certification
Successful learners receive an accredited Crane Operator Certificate and license, valid for two (2) years, issued in accordance with SAQA and SETA requirements (TETA / CETA). Refresher training is required before renewal.
