At Violet Horizon Training Academy, our Skilled Training Program provides learners with hands-on experience in essential construction skills.
This course prepares learners to work safely and efficiently in bricklaying, fencing, paving, and general road construction, while ensuring compliance with South African occupational health and safety standards.

Training aligns with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, 1993 (Act No. 85 of 1993) and Construction Regulations, 2014 (Regulation 8 & 9), ensuring learners understand workplace safety requirements.

🧠 Course Overview
This programme combines theoretical knowledge with practical application, giving learners the confidence and competence to work in construction and civil environments.

1. Theory Training
Learners cover:

Basic and advanced bricklaying and blockwork techniques
Fence installation, maintenance, and repair methods
Concrete mixing, paving, and roadwork principles
Construction site safety, risk assessment, and hazard management
Correct use of hand tools and power tools
Legal responsibilities under OHS Act and Construction Regulations
2. Practical Training
Under supervision of a qualified and accredited assessor, learners practice:

Bricklaying walls, columns, and block structures
Installing and maintaining fencing systems
Paving techniques and concrete handling
Safe and efficient use of construction tools and equipment
Working as part of a team on live sites
3. Competency Assessment
Learners are assessed through practical demonstration and written evaluation in accordance with SAQA Unit Standards relevant to construction skills.

4. Certification
Successful learners receive an accredited competency certificate, valid for two (2) years, recognized by SETA / CETA / QCTO. Refresher training is recommended to maintain skills and compliance.
